Lolita J. Thompson, age 89, passed away on May 18, 2022.
Lolita was a lover of life and tried to live each day to its fullest. She was interested in people’s stories and loved talking to everyone. She retired from Standard Oil/BP after 20 years. After retiring to Hilton Head, SC, and wanting to stay busy, she started working for Literacy Volunteers of the Low Country, eventually becoming its Financial Director. She was a master bridge player and loved to play golf and leaves behind many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Changeri; her son, Alex Slania; and her cherished grandchildren Victoria and Grant Slania.
Lolita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Neal; her parents, Frank & Ann (nee D’Amico) Smith; and brother, Gilbert Smith.
A Memorial Mass in her memory will be held on Saturday, June 4, 10:00 am, with a visitation at 9:30 am, at St. Joseph Church, 12700 Pearl Road, Strongsville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
