James Sutter

James “Jim” Sutter, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away from this world and entered into eternal peace with his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2021.

Jim was born on May 27, 1945 in Cleveland and resided in Brunswick.  He was a graduate of the General Motors Institute, earning degrees in both mechanical and electrical engineering.  He retired from GM after a highly successful 39-year career. He was also a very proud veteran, serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Jim was a golf and car enthusiast, enjoyed watching the Browns and spending time in his workshop. He loved to travel and see the world, always getting the best deals and taking countless pictures. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and at his church, St. Ambrose Parish.

Jim is remembered by his family and friends for his devotion, wisdom and generosity.  He loved projects of all kinds, and was extremely generous in sharing his time and talents.  When something wasn’t working and needed to be fixed, everyone knew they could ask Jim/Dad/Grandpa and he would know how to fix it. He loved to help people, especially the people he loved.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Norma (nee Bertone), who he continued to date by going out to dinners, movies, and events to the end, his daughters Amanda (Eric) Osborn and Marissa (Tim) Clausing, and his grandchildren Brayden, Alysia, Adrielle and soon to be born Timothy James. He will be missed greatly and always remembered fondly in their hearts, and the hearts of so many others.

The family will receive friends at St. Ambrose Parish on Wednesday, December 1 from 10:00 am – 11:00, with a Mass at 11:00, and a luncheon to follow.
