Donald A. Hutkay, 90 of Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Don will be fondly remembered for many things, including his love for his model trains and boats, as well as piloting his remote-controlled model planes. Don also loved his motorcycle, his corvette, and attending the local car shows. Don was incredibly talented at being able to fix just about anything, and it was often said: if Don can’t fix it – time to buy a new one! His love, his laugh, and his wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends, including his dog, Tip.
Don is survived by his daughter, Debra Sako; son, Edward Hutkay (Jody); grandchildren, Matt Sako, Nate Sako, Maria Sako (Steven Simmerman), Josh Hutkay (Elena), Michael Klebowski, Greg Hutkay (Shamalla Gibson), and Cory Hutkay (Ashley Buehner); great grandchildren, Kylee, Grace, Reagan, Lily, Olivia, Sylvanas, Jacob, and Riley; and brothers, Roger Hutkay (Cheryl) and William Hutkay (Georgene, deceased).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean (nee Sickmiller); and his sister Cheryl Monroe.
The family will receive friends at the Westwood Abbey at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted on Sunday from 1-4pm. The funeral service will be at the Abbey on Monday at 11am. Face coverings are required, and social distancing is to be observed.
