William Alan Hurlburt, age 83, passed away June 12, 2020.  William was born June 17, 1936 in Schenectady, NY to Harry E. and Cyretha M. Hurlburt.  William was proud to have served in the US Navy. He earned an MS degree in Hospital Administration at Columbia University, and served as Finance Officer for National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and also directed the establishment and construction of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.  William was a 60 year Mason, having been Master of  the Greensboro, NC Masonic Temple and a member of Medina Lodge #58.  He also served as the President of the Parents Association of the Valley Forge Military academy and Junior College in Wayne, PA.  His passion, however, was fly fishing in Pine Creek at Slate Run, PA, for which he loved to tie his own flies.
William is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Hurlburt of Grafton, OH and Dwight Hurlburt (Polly) of Rochester, NH; grandchildren, Cassandra (Thomas) Lough of North Ridgeville and Todd James Melchoir (Mary) of Whittier, CA; great-grandchildren, Elianna, Marianna and Opie Melchior; and his twin sister, Mary Ann (John) Daly of Troy, NY.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Western Reserve Masonic Community Life Enrichment Fund, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina, OH 44256.

  3. Dearest Aunt MaryAnn, so sorry for the loss of your brother. This is most certainly a beautifully written tribute to Bill. He was accomplished, educated and gave so much service to the country.
    He will be remembered with great admiration and love for the person he was.
