Holop, Albert

Albert Holop (Big Al) of Brunswick, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24th, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.

Al was a 1967 graduate of West Tech and a 40 year dedicated employee of Smith & Harris (Joy Technology)

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Michael, Sr. and Elizabeth Holop; brothers Michael, Jr. and Lou Holop.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judy; son, Gary Peksa (Betty); daughter, Jody Clements (Rich); grandson, Joshua Clements; brother, Walter (Lana) Holop; sister-in-laws, Ann Yarish, Nancy Finfrock and Joyce Kopinsky; brother-in-law, Don Yarish; faithful dog, Jake; nieces, nephews, and many, many dear friends.

Al was a vibrant, kind and generous man.  He had an infectious smile and made everyone laugh with his stories (sometimes exaggerated and sometimes made up).  He was there to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it and was known for that by his friends and neighbors.

Al graciously donated his body to the Cleveland Clinic for the advancement of medical science.  There will be no funeral, but a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

A special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kindness, compassion, support and wonderful care in Al’s final months, as they were a blessing to both he and his family.
