On Monday, August 23, 2021 Marleen Holbert (nee Grentzer) followed her beloved husband Randy in passing. Marleen was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was a graduate of West Tech High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the homecoming court.
After working for a short time outside of the home, Marleen was an extraordinary homemaker for Randy and their three children. She is survived by her only sibling Alfred “Mick” Grentzer, daughters Lynne Earhart (Michael Frazier) and Laura Hawes, son Patrick Holbert, and cherished grandchildren William Hawes and Erin Hawes (Dallin Sutherland), as well as several cousins and dear friends.
Marleen’s warm and welcoming disposition will remain forever in our hearts, and much as she tended to her precious flowers, she was always able to cast a ray of sunshine upon all those she loved, even in the most uncertain of times. Marleen, as a mother, you taught us the importance of keeping close to loved ones, and the value of honoring tradition. And as a grandmother, you showed us the meaning of unconditional love.
A celebration of Marleen’s life will be shared by immediate family in private. Honorary contributions may be made to Special Olympics Medina County, 4691 Windfall Rd, Medina, OH 44256.
