Gwendolyn Lovett Bass was born on October 1, 1972 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Minnie Hurt and James Lacey, who both preceded her in death. Her mother, Minnie met Samuel Hurt, whom became Gwendolyn’s stepfather after they were married and relocated to Detroit Michigan where Gwendolyn was raised and attended Detroit Public Schools until she left and attended Job Corps where she pursued a career in STNA helping and caring for others.

Gwendolyn confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she attended under the leadership of the late Pastor Jimmy Lee Burnett until she relocated to Medina Ohio and joined Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor John R. Peterson.

Gwendolyn really loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she also enjoyed playing cards, bones, doing word searches and listening to music. One of her favorite songs was You Know My Name by Tasha Cobbs.

Gwendolyn departed this life on Thursday November 14, 2024. She leaves to cherish two beautiful daughters Brianna Bass and Autumn Bass. One sis Teresa Diamond of Cleveland Ohio, three brothers, Demetrius Hurt of Canton Ohio, Samuel Hurt Jr. of Detroit Michigan, Antonio Lacey of Cleveland Ohio, two godsons Major Brazil, David Slayton Jr. one goddaughter Skylar Bass, three aunts Ruth Bass of Detroit Michigan, Mary Robinson of Detroit Michigan,Anna Douglas of Cleveland Ohio one uncle Bruce Bass of Detroit Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her very much.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.

Auntie Gwen I love you so much and going to miss you. But I know you’re not suffering anymore. I’m going to try to be strong for my cousins. You really was like a mother to me this is going to be hard to believe but I will accept the fact that you are gone. You will forever and going to always be in my heart.
