Donald W. Spitz, a devoted husband, father, loving grandfather, proud Navy veteran and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully February 25, leaving behind a lifetime of love and service.
Don served his country aboard the USS Estes before a career as a firefighter and paramedic, always putting others before himself. After retiring from firefighting, he found passion as a landscape architect, bringing beauty to the world around him.
For 58 wonderful years he shared his life with his beloved wife, Marge. As a grandfather he never missed a game or event and was always his family’s biggest supporter. Family gatherings with his nephews, grand nieces and nephews always brought joy. He had a love for trap shooting, classic cars, and wanted everyone to know they will aways be the Cleveland Indians.
Don is survived by his wife, Margaret "Marge" (nee Schmidt); daughters, Monica Puleo (Rob) and Melissa Ali (John); and grandchildren, Sophia and Angelo Puleo and Glen and Isabelle Ali. He was preceded in death by his parents, Latimer and Julia Spitz.
Don’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered. Fair winds and following seas, Don.
