Richard Decker, 72, went home to our Lord on August 26th, 2021.
Survived by his wife; Amy, 3 children from first marriage; Mickie Getz (Matt), Chris Decker (Lynn), and David Decker (Melissa), 2 stepchildren; Josh Romano (Lauren) and Nathan Romano (Mandy); and 9 grandchildren; Marian, Marcus, Eric, Lauren, Austin, Zach, Isaac, Caleb, and Amelia. He is one of 7 siblings; Diane, Karen, Noreen, Jim, Kathy, and Dan. Preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Lillian.
Richard established his own tool & die business, Investment Tooling Service. He was devoted to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, and volunteered at his parish as a CCD teacher, rosary leader, and technical support. Rich loved good food and would travel as much as it took to find the perfect muenster cheese, mint chocolate square, licorice, etc. Speaking of food, he always had a great wine to go along with it, which he gladly shared. He had a great sense of humor, too. He could tell a joke like it was a real story that actually happened, tricking you until the end with the punchline. His singing voice was beautiful, and was usually the loudest in church, that is, until Parkinson’s interfered. He endured the disease with grace and good humor for 12 years. Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church at 11 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass, from 10 – 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sisters of Life, at sistersoflife.org or Southwest Hospice.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
