Clyde Lewis Carter, 80, previously of Ravenna and Streetsboro, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 after a long courageous battle with lung cancer, with his loving wife, who he cherished more than anything, and family by his side.
Clyde was born on July 31, 1938, in Detroit, MI, to Robert and Bertha (Ballinger) Carter. He graduated from Southeast High School in Palmyra Township, OH in 1957. A U.S. Marine veteran and also serving in the Reserves, he retired from Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills, OH. He married Marilynn (Gaster-Enos) on May 24, 1986. She was the love of his life. You rarely would see one without the other.
Clyde loved the Cleveland Indians, and rarely missed watching a game on TV. He even had a TV in his garage where he enjoyed tinkering. He was a loving father and grandfather, who would give you the shirt off of his back, and you better take it or else he’d “jerk a knot in your tail”, as he would lovingly say. His wife and family were everything to him, and he was proud of each and every one of them. Through it all, he had a spirit that no one could deny. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Marilynn, he is survived by his daughters Laura Carter, of Plano, TX, Sheila Carter Perdue of Smyrna, DE, stepson James Enos of Medina, OH, stepdaughter Debra Enos of Ft. Riley, KS, grandchildren Alex (Allie), Hannah, Brandon, Elise, Christopher, Sarah (Ron), Robert, Mollie (Chris), and great-grandchildren Serenity and Carter. Also surviving are Brothers Wayne (Connie) Carter, Ron Carter, Larry (Nancy) Carter, Sister Caroline Hudson, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters Sue Ward, Jean Aubert, and stepson Larry Enos.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to your favorite charity in his name. Burial will be at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
