Allen, Florence

Florence Gertrude Allen (Jost)

May 25, 1938 – December 15, 2020

Brunswick, Ohio – Florence (Flo) Gertrude Allen, (Jost), (Mom, Mawmaw), Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and treasured friend to many, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the youthful age of 82 surrounded by her loving family.

Florence was born on May 25, 1938 to Florence Johanna Moro and Walter Fredrick Jost at Deaconess Hospital Cleveland, Ohio. Flo was married to the late Gene E. Allen Sr, where they lived for many years in the Kent, Bedford and Ravenna, Ohio areas raising their family.  This being Gene Allen Sr.’s second marriage, Florence raised Gene’s daughter, Jacquelyn R. (Jackie) (Thompson), from toddler to adult as her own, before Jackie’s passing in 2019 from chronic illness.  Florence’s life served as proof and testament that she was a loving and devoted mother to all of her children and grandchildren, as they would always be first and foremost in her life no matter what.

With great sadness, On Dec 7, 2020, Flo (Mom) became unexpectedly ill and faced a life-threatening diagnosis in which she bravely and courageously battled along with the grace and care provided by the Cleveland Clinic – Medina Hospital and her caregivers, in which we are eternally grateful.  Survivors include Flo’s prized and beloved children;  her son Geno Allen and Lisa Allen; son Anthony Allen and his wife Grace; daughter Samantha Allen; brothers; Joseph Richter, Charles Tiliske, Frank Meadows, and Walter Namoski; nieces Holly Rickard, Veronica Moore, Brittany Capron, and Jessica Meadows; Nephew, James Timothy Ryan; grandchildren; Kevin and Sam Allen; Dakota and Nevada Allen, Gage Wagner, Desera and Leighann Fowler, Harvey Starling; Joshua, Jeremy and Jonell Thompson.  She has also been very blessed with 13 amazing great grandchildren as well as so many longtime friends from Ohio and Florida. She will be deeply and dearly missed by all of us.

Services will be held at a later date.
