Ann Minick of Valley City passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Cleveland. She was born in Phillipsburg, PA and resided in Valley City for 52 years. Ann served during World War II with the U. S. Naval Reserves in Washington D.C. as a Petty Officer First Class. She later worked as a teacher and met her husband while both were teaching at West Chester High School. Ann is survived by her loving husband James of 60 years; sons, Greg (Jayne) Minick of Sheffield Lake, Kenneth (Margaret Bridge) Minick of Chatham, and Michael Minick of Valley City; daughter Deborah Smith of Avon; seven grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister Helen (Steve) Gentile; and brother Charles (Sally) Yatsko. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Emil Yatsko, Robert Pavlik, and William Yatsko. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Valley City, 6936 Center Road, Valley City on Sunday from 3-5pm with the funeral service beginning at 5pm.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Regina Maria Todorov, born on July 10th, 1982, passed from this earth on Friday December 2nd, 2016, at the age of 34. She is survived by her loving parents, Andrei and Karen (Leonhardt) Todorov; her siblings, Theodore and Nicholas; and her nieces Angela and Annie, along with many more loving family members. Regina joins her departed sister Jennifer, Todorov; her grandparents Frank & Edna, Leonhardt, and Henry & Cornelia Todorov. We invite family and friends to gather together with us in a celebration of her life on Sunday December 11th, between 1 and 4 o’clock. After a short illness, Louane W. Kowal of Medina, Ohio, born March 27, 1923 to Fred C. Williams and Miriam (nee Weber) Williams, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016 and has rejoined her husband of over 60 years, John G. Kowal. She was “the captain of the ship” for her family and will be deeply missed by her four children and their families: Lynne (John) Gibbs, Jan (Fred) Graff, John W. Kowal, and Tom (Francie) Kowal. She was a role model and inspiration for her seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Lori) Gibbs, Susan Borders, Kari (Matt) DiDonato, Wyatt (Katheryn) Graff, Drew Kowal, Lindseymarie (David) Szeto, Katie Kowal, and seven great-grandchildren. Louane was the eldest sister to Judy Goulder (decd) and Susan Davis. She was a proud graduate of Miami University and worked for many years as an administrative secretary with the Medina City Schools. She had a pioneer spirit and a huge heart. She always gave more than she took. Her life revolved around her love of animals as she cared for countless horses, dogs, and cats as well as helped with Project R.I.D.E. and Medina 4-H. She was a passionate Indians-Cavs-Browns-Buckeyes fan as well. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer of 2017 on the family farm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Medina County SPCA (8790 Guilford Road, Seville, OH 44273).
ANITA RIVERA 40, Loving mother of Alexandra and Jaydon. Wife of Jayson. Daughter of the late Kathleen and David Dvoroznak. Loving sister of Joshua and Jacob Beecham. Best friend of 40 years to Lisa Harries. Anita was loved by many. She could light up a room anywhere she went. Her compassion for her children was one of a kind. Virginia Eschen (nee Doak), age 93, passed away November 21, 2016. Loving mother of Kathleen (Daniel) Prater and Robert (Deborah) Eschen. Beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, and three brothers. Private family services will be held.
Williamston, SC – Joseph “Joe” Paul Palmer, 55, husband of Beverly Soloski Palmer, died Thursday, November 17, 2016. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of Robert E. Lee Palmer and Helen Podsedly Palmer. He was formerly employed with Burroughs, Inc. in Ohio. In addition to his wife of the home and parents of Williamston, he is survived by children, Joseph Robert Palmer of Brunswick, OH and Amber Rose Smith of Washington, DC; sisters, Linda Logan of Pelzer and Corrine Miller of Columbus, OH. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 23 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Brunswick. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery .
Robert D. Beck, age 49, passed away suddenly November 20, 2016. Beloved husband of Karen (nee O’Boyle). Loving father of Stephanie Beck, Phillip Beck and Colleen Beck. Also survived by his parents, Dale & Lois Beck; brothers, Brian C (Kathleen) Beck and Dennis W. (Stacey) Beck; in-laws, Robert & Jean O’Boyle; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cal & Erma Walter-Treece and Ralph & Mary Beck. There will be a memorial gathering at Brunswick Reformed Church, 3535 Grafton Road, Brunswick, on Sunday, November 27 from 2 – 4 pm, with a memorial service following at 4 pm.

DWIGHT P. LOTZ “Smokey”, 73 of Brunswick, passed away surrounded by family. Smokey loved boating, riding his Harley, fishing, and hunting; but especially spending time with his grandchildren. MURRAY L. HILTZ, SR., age 85 of Grafton, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adele (nee Cichy); children, Debra Ann Durrell, Donna Marie Picione (Marc), Murray Lindsay Hiltz, Jr., Diane Ellen VanNostran, Mark Ross Hiltz (Linda), and Malcolm Scott Hiltz (Tracy); 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Murray was the Chaplain at VFW Post 3341 in Grafton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Lagrange, 200 Church St., Lagrange, OH 44050. A private family burial took place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the First Baptist Church of Lagrange.
